JOB TITLE: Journalist Intern
DEPARTMENT: Market Intelligence
SUPERVISOR: Director of Market Intelligence
STATUS: Paid, Part-Time/20 hours per week
Summer 2025
POSITION SUMMARY: This position is dedicated to a highly motivated graduate-level
journalism student or recent grad to assist with the 2025 edition of DATOS—Arizona's
premiere Hispanic market intelligence report for the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of
Commerce.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• To follow, highlight and always encourage the chamber mission
• To assist write and edit a portion of ~25-30 short "InFocus" stories
• To assist in writing articles
• To assist in storytelling, editing and formatting that elevates Latino community
• To assist in conduct interviews with business/community leaders
• To collaborate with other AZHCC team members to shape content
• To actively research supporting data, trends, or story background as needed
• To assist in the review and revise submissions for tone, clarity, and grammar
• To assist in weekly check-ins and meet editing/writing deadlines
• And other duties as assigned by supervisor
REQUIREMENTS:
• Must have strong writing, interviewing, and editing skills
• Must have knowledge in data-driven storytelling and community-focused work
• Must have attention to detail and a collaborative spirit
• Must be able to speak in a crowd and to new interviewers
• Must be a proactive self-starter
• Must be timely and able to adhere to deadlines
• Must be able to prioritize, solve problems and be resourceful under pressure
• Must have excellent writing skills including grammar and punctuation
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and basic file-sharing tools
• Must be able to travel as necessary
• Bi-lingual Spanish speaking preferred with writing, reading and translation skills
